چکیده

The hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) on Au with high chemical stability is activated by alloying it Ni. We evaluated the HER activity of AuNi surface alloy prepared at different temperatures single-crystal electrodes in 0.05 M H2SO4. potential cycle, including region Ni oxidative dissolution, further enhanced dealloying Ni, and depended structure substrate following order: AuNi/Au(100)<AuNi/Au(111)<AuNi/Au(110). atomic composition were investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy diffraction. Surface structural analysis revealed that dissolution from surface-alloy layer resulted a decrease occupancy topmost layer. creates low-coordination sites alloy, which activates HER.

Role of surface iron in enhanced activity for the oxygen reduction reaction on a Pd3Fe(111) single-crystal alloy.

Applications of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEM-FCs) require a continued search for an optimal catalyst with attributes of high activity, durability, low cost, and resistance to negative effects of impurities in the fuel. Platinum-based bimetallic catalyst systems are widely utilized in PEM-FCs because of their good performance in both the cathode and the anode. Alloying with inexp...

Facile Hydrogen Evolution Reaction on WO3Nanorods

Tungsten trioxide nanorods have been generated by the thermal decomposition (450 C) of tetrabutylammonium decatungstate. The synthesized tungsten trioxide (WO3) nanorods have been characterized by XRD, Raman, SEM, TEM, HRTEM and cyclic voltammetry. High resolution transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the synthesized WO3 nanorods are crystalline in nature w...

The effect of hydrogen evolution reaction on conductance quantization of Au, Ag, Cu nanocontacts.

We have mechanically fabricated Au, Ag, and Cu nanocontacts in solution under electrochemical potential control. At the hydrogen evolution potential, fractional conductance peaks appeared near 0.5 G(0) (G(0) = 2e(2)/h) in the conductance histogram of Au and Cu. This fractional conductance peak was not observed in the conductance histogram of Ag. In the case of Au nanocontacts in 50 mM H(2)SO(4)...

The chemistry of iodomethane on MoAl alloy thin films formed on dehydroxylated alumina: Formation and reaction of surface methyl species

The surface chemistry of iodomethane is studied in ultrahigh vacuum using X-ray and Auger spectroscopies and temperature-programmed desorption, on a MoAl alloy film formed by reacting molybdenum hexacarbonyl with dehydroxylated alumina. The alloy is grown by reacting Mo(CO)6 with a thin alumina film on a molybdenum substrate at 700 K and heating to 1500 K. A portion of the iodomethane dissociat...
